Making History: The Global Revenue Forum Madrid 2025 Achieves Zero Food Waste to Landfill Certification
The hospitality industry witnessed a groundbreaking milestone this year: the Global Revenue Forum Madrid 2025 became the first event in Spain to achieve the Zero Food Waste to Landfill Event Certification.
Organized by Open Revenue Consulting and Torres Hospitality Consulting, the event gathered more than 300 hotel industry leaders to prove that sustainability and profitability go hand in hand. This achievement marks a pivotal moment for Spain’s hospitality sector, as the newly implemented Law 1/2025 on Food Waste Prevention requires systematic and accountable food waste management practices across the industry.
Collaboration at the Core
This certification was the result of strong, strategic collaboration. Working alongside Open Revenue Consulting, our Accredited Consultant, ensuring that every step of the event’s food journey aligned with best practices in food waste prevention. From planning to execution, partners across the value chain came together to show what is possible when innovation and responsibility unite.

Key impact results from the event included:
- 24 kg of food rescued from potential waste
- 48 food rations recovered and redistributed
- 46 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided
- Zero organic waste to landfill thanks to biogas transformation
- Only 9.7 kg of total surplus across buffet and plated meals

Turning Compliance into Competitive Advantage
Through close partnerships with Vilaplana Catering, Phenix, and Miogas, the Global Revenue Forum Madrid went beyond compliance with Spain’s new law, it turned sustainability into a competitive advantage.
